THE MORTAR
The first feature mentioned is silica fume enhanced mortar. The benefits of silica fume are many, including incredible bond, density, strength and hanging capability. Additionally silica fume converts calcium hydroxide (cement's dusty discharge which acts as a bond breaker for epoxy overlays), to calcium silicate and stays suspended in the cement slurry.
Quality Control is an area few people talk about, SR&Pmrs is proud of its commitment to QC. SR&P’s blender in Columbus, OH has the industry’s state of the art testing and quality monitoring laboratory. Every production run is batch coded and tested prior to shipping.
In the Physical Properties box, our compressive strength is remarkable and our permeability number is the best in the market. One critical number, especially when designing a structural renewal, is the C-469 Modulus of Elasticity test. This test is required to establish the exact thickness necessary to withstand the loads our material will be subjected. Because of SRP’s low water content, this number is 300% greater than its nearest competitor and 900% greater than most epoxies design for our market.
PROTECTIVE LINERS
June, 2005 ZIA Municipal Supply, Inc. was honored with an exclusive license with Ameron International. This license is the result of two years of testing where SR&Pmrs developed a new mortar mastic that greatly improved the field installation of the Arrowlock Protective Liner System. This new mortar specifically designed for mechanical embedment of Arrowlock, has reduced the installed cost by as much as 75%. Arrowlock is the same PVC sheet protective liner material as T-Lock except that the lugging system is design to be imbedded into a mastic. These PVC sheet protective liners have been successfully protected pipelines and manholes in some of the nations most corrosive environments for over 50 years. SR&P mrs provides an alternate to spray applied coatings yet providing a superior product with less risk. This system is offered exclusively through the SR&Pmrs applicator network.
CHIMNEY SEALS
SR&Pmrs is developing an entirely new chimney seal program that will dramatically change the manhole rehab market. This simplified process involves minimal preparation and unmatched consistency by placing the tool in the manhole, pressing a few buttons, and in 15 minutes move on to the next structure. This approach actually seals the chimney on the outside from the inside without any excavation. Field-testing will be done in late ‘05 with McCandless Twp., PA and Montgomery County, OH.
